Fort Irwin Middle School

Mrs. Jahnnylyn J. Malana teaches 7^th grade AVID and Response to Intervention (RTI) this year, which marks her 23^rd year in the teaching profession. She has been with SVUSD for 10 years now. She has taught various grade levels from 2^nd grade through 7^th grade with most of her experience teaching 6^th and 7^th grades English. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Master of Arts in Teaching-Major in English Language from Far Eastern University and De La Salle University both in Manila, Philippines. She is currently working on another graduate degree, this time Master of Science in Educational Leadership.

Mrs. Malana believes that every child has the potential to learn and succeed, more so when school and home work in partnership and collaboration to ensure every child achieves. She works extremely hard to provide opportunities for her students to learn using varied modalities and intelligences. Her goals this year include helping her students achieve better through writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading (WICOR via AVID style) as well as inculcate the FIMS’s discipline mantra--R.E.A.L.—Respect, Engage, Achieve, and Lead.
