April 2016

        Student:    Joseph Barela

            Grade:    8^th Grade

               Age:    14 years

Nomination Selection:  Joseph A. Barela was nominated and elected as Student of the Month for April 2016 at Barstow Junior High School.  Joseph has a 4.0 GPA.  He is part of the yearbook team in our school.   Joseph is very active in sports both in school and in the community for the past two years.    He has won the high desert championship for Barstow Junior High School’s wrestling team.  His favorite football team is the Green Bay Packers.  His plans after earning his high school diploma is to earn a degree in business with UC Berkeley one day.   His favorite food is pizza and his favorite movie is Ride Along.   His favorite hobby is weight lifting during his spare time.   When asked who his favorite role model is he stated,

 “My father is my role model because his is always very supportive in my personal endeavors.”  Joseph’s favorite quote is “Follow Your Dreams.”  His advice for students to be successful in school is to eat healthy and get plenty of sleep for better test results because it works for him.  Great GPA Joseph!!!  Keep up the good work!  We are proud of Joseph to be part of our school.  Go Hawks!    

Barstow Junior High Hawks are expected to go straight home after school.  Students are not to go to the Stater Brothers Shopping Center before OR after school.  Parents please call the school for any questions or special requests.  Thank you for your support on this matter.
