Superintendent's Welcome
It is a tremendous honor for me to serve as Superintendent of the Silver Valley Unified School District and serve the students and families of Daggett, Yermo, Newberry Springs, Ludlow, Fort Irwin and the Marine Corps Logistics Base. We can be proud of all that we achieve in the Silver Valley Schools—in our classrooms, in our offices, in our computer labs, on our playgrounds and playing fields, and on our stages — our achievements are due to the hard work and dedication of our students and their families, our outstanding faculty and staff, the board of education, and the support of the entire community around us. Our programs are excellent because all of our stakeholders have the same common goal: success for all students, every day.
Our district serves not only a large geographical area (over 3,200 square miles), but a very diverse student population that come to us from all over the nation and the world. Each of our approximately 2,300 students and their families come to us with their own individual educational needs and experiences and I am so proud each time I am on a school site to see how these needs are being met with excellence and compassion to serve the whole child. I value the wonderful partnerships our district holds with both the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps, and the invaluable support they provide to our schools.
Take a moment and check out our strategic plan if you are new to us, or just want to revisit what we as a district agree that we value and desire to accomplish. The district lives this plan every day and it is the cornerstone for all that we do. We are very proud to be in the eighth year of faithful implementation based on guidelines developed by our board of education and our diverse group of community stakeholders that include teachers, classified staff, parents, community members and most of all students.
In the words of Robert M. Hutchins “The object of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives.”
Welcome to Silver Valley!
