President's Academic Excellence Scholarship |

On April 18th CSUSB hosted a special event for the top 1% students and their parents to share information about the President’s Academic Excellence Scholarship program (PAES); a program established to recruit and retain the County’s most promising and talented high school students. Please congratulate Silver Valley High School's own Kayla Black as this years honoree from our district. Kayla is pictured here with San Bernardino County of Schools Superintendent, Ted Alejandre, SVUSD Superintendent Jill Kemock and CSUSB President Dr.Tomas Morales.
PAES, also known to many as the Top 1% Scholars program, provides each recipient a $5,000 annual scholarship to attend CSUSB, renewable up to four years as long as the recipient is a full-time student and maintains a 3.5 GPA.

Congratulations...
to Genesis Cruz of Silver Valley High School! Genesis was selected as one of the winners in the Youth Art Month Flag design. Her design will be integrated with other winners from across the state into the flags final design. Her submission included the California state bear, a paintbrush, and the state flower.
The completed flag will be flown at the CAEA State Convention next November, 2015. Genesis will also receive a ribbon and certificate from the California Art Education Association in recognition for her outstanding achievement.
Congratulations to Genesis Cruz on a job well done!

Silver Valley USD's Board of Trustees are recognized during the month January 2015 in celebration of School Board Recognition Month. The Alternative Education Staff presented the Board members with a basket of goodies and the administration provided a cake to show their appreciation.
