2015-16 Assessments
The best academic preparation for state assessments is good instruction. This can be broadly defined as instruction in the content specified in California’s academic content standards, employing the instructional principles and practices set forth in the content-area frameworks. It is the standards and frameworks, not the tests, that guide instructional programs. Instructional programs are designed to ensure that students master the standards at their own and earlier grade levels.

BUSD Benchmark Assessment Lists and Curriculum Resources can be found in the following places:
- Staff Materials>Common Core shared desktop folder

- Use your @busdk12.com email address to log into Google to gain access to this shared folder.
- Benchmark Asseessment materials are attached to Assessments in Illuminate. Student Booklets, Teacher Rationale etc.

Benchmark Assessment Delivery Schedule |
- Paper Benchmark Assessment Site Delivery Estimate: 2 weeks prior to test start date for paper/pencil tests for only the assessments/sites included on the delivery schedule. Please see your site administrator if you have questions on methods of administration.
- Assessment availability in Illuminate: Shared to users Approx. 2 weeks prior to the end for the Trimester/Quarter. The last Trimester/Quarter of the year will be shared 3 weeks prior to the last day of school.
- Data must be loaded into Illuminate within 2 weeks after the end of the Trimester/Quarter. Data will be entered via online testing (if applicable), scanned bubble sheets (if applicable), hand entry or data file upload.
Please note: 2015-16 Grade 2-11 benchmark assessments will be taken online. As of January 2016 PT assessments can be administered online as well via the Hybrid Online Assessment option.
