Statewide Assessment Programs |
California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) On January 1, 2014 California Education Code Section 60640 established the CAASPP System of assessments. |
California English Language Development Test (CELDT) Students in Kindergarten through twelve whose home language is not English are required by law to be assessed in English language proficiency (LEP). In California, the ELP assessment is the CELDT. |
California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) In California all high school students must pass the CAHSEE to earn a high school diploma. |
National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) The NAEP tests students in grades four, eight, and twelve in subjects such as reading, writing, math, and science. Most school districts are required to take part in NAEP, but it is voluntary at the student level. A small number of schools are required to take part in the test. |
Physical Fitness Testing (PFT) Public school students in grades five, seven, and nine are required to take the PFT, whether or not they are enrolled in a physical education class or participate in a block schedule.The test has six parts that show a level of fitness that offer a degree of defense against diseases that come from inactivity. |
Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) Assessment System Part of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) Assessment system. Students in grades three through eight and eleven are required to take the SBAC assessment unless they qualify to take an alternate assessment. |
